FTC To Take Action Against Drizly For Data Breach Impacting 2.5 Million Users

Today, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Drizly, alleging that the company failed to secure its data and protect user information.

According to the FTC's complaint, Drizly "failed to encrypt consumers' personal information as required by state law in at least 20 states."

As a result of this breach, 2.5 million users had their personal data exposed - including full names, addresses, and email addresses. In some cases, customers' driver's license numbers were also exposed.

The FTC is asking for monetary damages plus an order requiring Drizly to implement proper security measures going forward.

Additionally, the commission wants Drizly to stop deceptive practices related to data breaches and ensure that future customers are fully informed about how their personal information will be protected.
